Universal Law 9:  The Law of Relativity

The Law of Relativity states that an action, event, or object is neutral until we perceive it to be good or bad.  Our interpretation of it becomes a judgment in which we compare it to something else from our past.  Whether we view it as positive or negative depends on what we are comparing it to.  If we judge it against something that is worse, then we see it as not so bad.  But if we view it in light of something better, we perceive it to be worse than it may really be.  It is only when we relate it to something else that it takes on a value of good or bad.  It is how we see it relative to something else.

Why is it important to know about this Law?

If we understand this basic principle, then we can let this Law work for us rather than against us. For example, if you compare yourself to others in some way and feel that you are not as good as they are in some area, you are taking a superficial view of the situation and allowing the Law to work against you.  But if you take this same comparison and instead acknowledge your strong traits in another area, recognizing what you have mastered, then you are allowing the Law to help raise your self-confidence and esteem.

This Law is about us being on our spiritual path, and relates to us looking at comparisons.  If we use it to find out what lessons we are learning, then we are letting it guide us in our spiritual growth.  We see the comparison not as good or bad, but as a lesson we are in the midst of learning.  It is all about how we interpret the comparison.

When we make a comparison where we judge ourselves as coming up short, we must ask ourselves what we were meant to learn from this and how far this will help us grow and move along our spiritual path.

The main thing to keep in mind is to make sure the choices we make come from our heart, not our mind or ego, because ego-driven choices are based on judgments.  When our judgments lead to a challenge for us, we have the choice to change our way of thinking and turn a negative into a positive.

Ascended Master El Morya says:

“Basically, the Law of Relativity assures that each soul will receive a series of tests (problems, if you will) designed for the purpose of strengthening the Light within.  As each soul is tested and provided with opportunities for advancement, options are given that guide the possible choices to be made.

“Everything is relative…The reason one believes that things are better or worse is because the mind makes comparisons with people, things, and events that are not relevant, and applies these comparisons to the present situation.”  (Milanovich & McCune, p. 223).

Life is not about comparisons but about mastering the lessons we have come here to learn.  When we control our mind (ego) to focus only on the present, we stay connected with our heart and all of our choices come from the heart—a place that is non-judgmental.

Universal Law 10:  The Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity states that everything is on a continuum and has an opposite, but there are no absolutes.  Things are the same, only different in terms of degrees; opposites are the two extremes of the same thing—such as heat-cold, good-bad, truth-untruth, love-hate, high-low, positive-negative, light-dark.  Where does one quality stop and the other begin?  Each opposite experience has infinite possibilities for us, and helps us appreciate the positive that comes into our lives.  Using this Law requires the discipline we need to change our lives.

Why is it important to know this Law?

Because we have free will, we can choose which part of the polarity continuum we wish to experience.  If our lives are not going the way we want, we need to stop and ask ourselves why this is happening—what lessons are we meant to learn from the difficulties we are having?  Remember the Law of Relativity—what is happening to us is not good or bad; it just is.  Failure to acknowledge the Law of Relativity will result in a delay in getting what we want, because judgment causes a lower vibration.
A key point here relates to the reason we are using the Law of Attraction to bring abundance into our lives. The reason could be:  (1) We want to be happier and think financial success is the answer; or (2) We want to learn all we can and believe that abundance will help us grow not just materially but spiritually.  The second reason has a higher vibration and will actually bring abundance into our lives faster.

Accepting experiences at face value without judgment is so important, as stated by Angelheart:

“Having acceptance of whatever you are experiencing acts as the polar opposite of resistance and will attract more of your desires.  This means that any resistance you have by focusing on the experience and interpreting it (as) bad or good will attract more of what you are resisting.

“Learn to accept and celebrate the experiences you have already had and the ones you are currently having no matter how they may appear.  It is after you do this that you will notice your new choices of the polarity experiences will begin to appear and the other experiences will disappear.  Surrender to acceptance of the journey and embrace the entire journey to bring harmony to your life.” (p. 69-70)

This Law helps us realize that all things can be changed. The first step is to choose to change.  We also must recognize that extreme reactions bring to us emotions and behaviors that are extreme. That is why balance is the key to success.  In a nutshell—changes in polarity lead to changes in vibration, which in turn lead to changes in what we attract.

The next blog, to be posted on 1/12/14, will discuss Universal Law 11--The Law of Rhythm, and Law 12--The Law of Gender.
